Club News

For the past few years the club has organised a spring trip to Majorca.  This year we are investigating the possibility of us going to Cyprus instead.  At this point it is just a feasibility study but if you are interested in spending a week cycling in Cyprus please let Gary know before Monday 16th September.

To round off June, 14 club members (at least) took part in the Tour d'Ilmington. Five took on the 100km Eroica event for classic bikes (although a couple of the bikes used aren't classics yet).

The rest had a short but vertically challenging 30 miles to visit Ilmington from just about every conceivable angle.

It was also the first outing for the club gazebo which seemed to be a hit.  A full report is in the Sportives section of the Forum.

The 2019 version of the Vitus Dragon Ride was held on the 9th June.  Nine members of the club (that is approaching 10%) took part at various distances on a day of mixed weather conditions.

Paul Markwick has ridden from Bristol to Glasgow to raise money for Zoë's Place Baby Hospice - Midlands.  Paul rode with several colleagues over 5 days stopping in Warwick, Sheffield, Middlesbrough and Gretna.

So in 5 days, the team cycled 525 miles, climbed about 25000 feet, consumed huge amounts of calories (though that was possibly nothing to do with the challenge) and energy drinks, and raised about £15,000 for charity. It is not too late to contribute if you would like to on: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/hvmc-mtc

The legendary race returns to the iconic Town Centre Streets of Warwick this September. Warwick Lanterne Rouge Cycling Club proudly presents a day of cycling fun for all ages and abilities. We have scheduled seven British Cycling affiliated races plus a Community Ride and Kid's Races. This is a free to watch event for all the family so please come along and support the event and your community.
